Vancouver: the best city in the Western Hemisphere.

Vancouver confirms its position of the city with the highest standard of living in Americas again, as said by the newest analysis by Mercer.Just like the previous year, the global leader for trusted HR and related financial advice rated 215 various cities. The results help companies and governments making decisions about assigning their employees on international assignments.

The 215 cities are compared to the base city – New York with the index score 100 in 37 various criteria such as social and political indicators, standard of transportation or security. This year’s winner Vienna ended with 108.6 points, which was just about enough to dethrone last year’s Victor Curych (108 points). The top ten is as usual dominated by European cities while only 3 non-European managed to get among the first tenth – Vancouver (4th, 107.4 points), Auckland (again 4th, 107.4 points) and Sydney (10th, 106.3 points). As New York occupies 49th place, 47 cities managed to score anywhere between 100 and 108.6 points. The long list was ended again with Baghdad (14.4 points), losing almost 15 points on the second from the end Bangui.

Canadian cities preoccupied the Americas tables: already mentioned Vancouver (4th), Toronto (15th), Ottawa (16th), Montreal (22th) and Calgary (26th) were followed by the US cities Honolulu (29th), San Francisco (30th), Boston (35th), Portland (42nd), Washington DC and Chicago (both 44th).

To me Vancouver has always seemed as one of the most beautiful cities not just in Canada, but world wide.Ending within the top 5 best cities in the world only confirms what I already thought. If you are thinking of relocating and Vancouver is where your heard wants to go, why don’t you let this guide for buying real estate in Vancouver help you.
