Barcelona the Ever Changing City
Barely two months has passed since that fateful night. “Will he?, won’t he?” we all asked, and finally, on 4th November 2008 he did. Needless to say, Barack Obama was the big hype of 2008. Not only was this election major because it involved the running of a black man for president, but because of the wave of change it was expected to bring about, after the long and dreary period of the shoddy Bush presidency in the USA.
Perhaps most importantly for the millions of Americans who voted for Obama in the elections are the key virtues that Obama represents; hope, optimism and security for the future, feelings that McCain just couldn’t stir up in the general public.
Many artists have been mobilized to support Obama’s presidency, inspired by the vigor of his optimism, his views, and his lack of hidden agenda. Many artists, singers and actors have shown their support in the media and through their works of art and photos.
The Cuban artist, Jorge Rodriguez Gerada, showed his support for the future President with his grandiose work of art. In fact, it was so grandiose that it covered the forum beach in Barcelona close to many apartments barcelona, and was a enormous depiction of the new President’s head (139
